Two of the hottest stars in Bollywood, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan offered prayers at a Hindu temple over the weekend, prompting several outlets to suggest that the two might be close to getting married. The BBC reports that Rai joined the Bachchan family at the Sankat Mochan Temple in Varanasi on Monday where she performed a puja with Abhishek. The Times of india reported that the buzz grew because Rai sat on Bachchan’s left during the service, a position usually held by a wife during such rituals. Some outlets even reported that the two stars exchanged rings during the ceremonies.


Aishwarya Rai has often been called the most beautiful woman in the world, even winning the Miss World title. She has been the star of several of Bollywood’s biggest hits of the new millennium worldwide. The world famous actress has been linked to Abhishek Bachchan for a while and the indian media has speculated that the two may get married, a suggestion that no one has confirmed.


Abhishek Bachchan’s father Amitabh is also a famous actor in Bollywood and joined the two stars with his wife Jaya at the temple, along with several other Bachchan family members. The appearance of the family was important because The Times of india reports that the Bachchan family was very upset about a recent on-screen kiss by Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom-2.


Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan seem to be a perfect fit with the most beautiful woman in the world partnered with a man who was voted the sexiest Asian man by a British newspaper recently. They’re the Brangelina of Bollywood, even starring together in Umrao Jaan, but while the two have found massive success apart they haven’t really found it when they star together.


The Times of india took the possible marriage a step further, asking the astrologer who predicted that Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan would be together earlier this year if and when the two would get married - “They will get married anytime between January 14 and February in 2007 as per my advice.”


The astrologer is actually the one who suggested that the couple go to the temple this week, saying, “i advised their families to perform this corrective puja at an ancient Shiva temple. By taking Aishwarya to Varanasi where Amitabh Bachchan’s father Harivanshrai Bachchan’s annual rituals are observed, the Bachchans are sending a message to the rest of the country that Aishwarya is now part of their family.”


Aishwarya Rai has been linked to other Bollywood actors, including Salman Khan and Viveik Oberoi, in the past.
