Ram Gopal Varma was all set to wield the megaphone for his grand remake of Ramesh Sippy’s 1975 blockbuster Sholay a few days ago.


But now, the recent buzz doing the rounds is that Varma’s grand remake, Ram Gopal Varma Ke Sholay has encountered another roadblock. Work has come to a standstill, with the film being delayed again, by more than a month.


The reason Ajay Devgan’s dissatisfaction with the script. Devgan, on his part, is known to be a perfectionist who takes a keen interest in every aspect of his film. And this one is no different.


“When Ajay Devgan read the complete script he wanted certain changes in his character that would compliment his image,” informs a source.


Devgan plays the role of Veeru, originally essayed by Dharmendra. “Ajay has tremendous respect for Ramu and he agreed to do Sholay because it is Ramu’s dream project. But he has requested Ramu to make some changes,” adds the source.


When contacted, Ravi Prakash, spokesperson for the production house, confirmed the delay in shooting. “We were supposed to start the shoot of the film yesterday, but now we are going to begin in the third week of September,” says Prakash.


“We have blocked the dates of major stars from September. Yesterday’s shooting was with the other, smaller artistes. We want to get a feel of the location before we finally roll,” he added.


When asked about problems on Devgan’s end, he said, “As far as I know, Ajay continues to be part of Sholay.” Devgan was unavailable for comment.
