Akbar Khan is upset with the poor fate of his 75-crore project and considers it the fault of the distributors of his movie Taj Mahal. He wants to re-release it again.

The actor turned director feels the kind of distribution he received had no hold on cinema halls. He was unable to get a confirmed booking for a minimum of four to six weeks (he pulled it out of the theaters after just two weeks of screening). The show timings were wrong (11 am shows and working hr shows were not able to pull the family goers). The distribution platform was not worth a movie like this.

Khan said, “It was bad exploitation through distribution. We were victims of bad show timing and theatres. The show timings were 11:30 am and no one would like to watch a movie at that hour.”

He added, “The choice of theatres outside Mumbai was pathetic. People could get the stench of the restrooms close by! So out of my wisdom I pulled out the movie in two weeks. Instead of putting the film in departmental stores, they put it in grocery stores!”

He further went on to say that the film got rave reviews from all those who had seen in and is pretty confident about it this time.
