Former mentor-protege, Ram Gopal Varma-Urmila is goods friends again and is finally doing a film together. Taufeeq from Ramu’s factor will direct it. Whereas Ramu’s other protege Mohit Ahlawat (James) is out of Ramu camp. He will soon work outside Ram Gopal Varma’s Factory.

Ahlawat confirmed, “Yes, I have been approached by a couple of big banner production houses, and in a week I shall sign films outside Factory”. Mohit is currently acting in Ram Gopal Varma’s Shiva.

But aren’t you prevented from working outside Ramu camp as per their contract? “There has been no such clause. I didn’t want to sign films outside the RGV banner because I am a newcomer and in this industry people take newcomers for a ride. Now I think I am mature enough to rake care of myself,” he says.

Tell us something about Shiva, is it a remake of original Shiva which was made by RGV long ago. “The film (directed by Ramu) has nothing in common with his earlier film Shiva other than the title. It’s is a hardcore Mumbai cop story. And Ramu will certainly not make another James.”

How he looks back at his performance in James? “Bad. I was not at all satisfied with what I did in that film. I barely had ten lines of dialogue.” Now that he is working with Ramu as a director, what has he learnt? “Ramu is very sure about his shot and his style. He is a brilliant editor also, so he conceives scenes, edits them in his mind and shoots them accordingly.” Shiva stars Nisha Kothari opposite Mohit Ahlawat.

Mohit has also signed Ramesh Khattar’s film Sattu which will be produced by RGV.
