Model-actress Deepika Padukone, after being cast by Farah Khan for her next ‘Happy New Year’ opposite Shah Rukh and after making waves on TV with music composer Himesh Reshammiya for ‘Aap Ka Suroor’ music video, she is now signed for Kannada film ‘Aishwarya’. This girl likes to try her hands in different things.

Deepika explained, “I am cast opposite Kannada superstar Upendra, with Indrajit Lankesh directing. It is a performance-based role, and as I am from Bangalore, I can speak Kannada fluently”. (Upendra has played Sanjay Dutt’s character in the Kannada version of Munnabhai, called Uppidada MBBS, expected to release shortly.)

Talking about exposure in Bollywood she said, “Given a choice, I would refrain from movies like Murder, and prefer the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Parineeta and Kal Ho Na Ho genre. I am not in a tearing hurry to strike it big and use shortcuts to success.”
