Friends: The Complete Tenth Season (2003-2004), May 9, 2005
Reviewer: Chad DeFeo "(ChandlerBingFan)" (Philadelphia, PA USA) -

Sadly, this our Friends' last season. But it is best that we enjoy this 18-episode season to help keep us from welling up. So, let's get on to finding out what had happened since we last seen our friends.

We had seen our Friends last in Barbados, where Charlie had broken up with Joey, for she was way to smart for Joey, meaning that they had nothing in common. Charlie went to Ross, since they both are Paleontologists. Joey finds them kissing, which leads him to kiss Rachel, after Rachel had confessed to Joey that she had a crush on him. Ross finds out and becomes mentally unstable, but realizes that he does not want to stand in the way of his two best friends. But fortunately, Rachel realized that she really does not want to be with Joey in the sense of a loving relationship, for she doesn't feel that way about him. So, they break up only after a week. But they decide to remain very good friends.

Phoebe is back into a healthy relationship with Mike. She feels that she is not going to let him get away this time. After awhile, Phoebe wants to know why Mike has not yet proposed to her. But her wish might finally come true. Mike takes her to a hockey game and is ready to propose to Phoebe by having a WILL-YOU-MARRY-ME message flash upon the backdrop hockey screen. But somebody else had proposed to his girlfriend that way, causing Phoebe to feel that that is the dumbest way to propose. But Mike proposes to Phoebe the old-fashioned way: in a romantic restaurant. Phoebe accepts Mike's offer and gears herself up to become the beautiful Bride. Ross and Charlie break up, since Charlie went back to her boyfriend, Ben.

Phoebe and Mike's wedding day has arrived, where they have a beautiful winter wedding outside the coffee house.

Monica and Chandler are now adopting a child. A woman named Erica is pregnant and is looking for a married couple to adopt her baby. She has picked Monica and Chandler. After finding out that they are going to be parents, Monica and Chandler decide to move to into a house in Westchester

Rachel is fired from her job at Ralph Lauren. Rachel runs into Mark, the one man Ross has been jealous of when he had helped Rachel get her job at Bloomingdales. Mark helps her find a job in fashion, but it is in Paris. Rachel decides to go, while Ross is devastated.

The night before, Rachel gives everyone a warm goodbye, but not Ross. Ross yells at her for not giving him a warm goodbye. Rachel runs over to his place and explains why. She didn't say goodbye because it was already hard to say goodbye to Joey, Chandler, Phoebe, and Monica. She tells him that because of she and Ross had been through, it is even harder to say goodbye to him, which leads the two into kissing, where they sleep together. He hoped this would make her stay, but it doesn't work. She sets out to the airport as, Erica, who has temporarily moved into New York to be closer to Monica and Chandler, goes into labor. Joey, Chandler, Monica, and Phoebe convince Ross to go after Rachel and tell her how much he really loves her. Phoebe drives him to the airport. Phoebe helps out by driving Ross and by making the passengers to Paris, by phone, think there is something wrong with the plane.

Once the plane thing was worked out, Rachel boards as Ross and Phoebe arrive. Ross calls out to Rachel. She comes off the jet way and is surprised to see him. He confesses his true love for her. But it scares her, so she gets back on the plane without saying a word. Ross, hurt, goes on home. He checks his answering machine and gets a message from Rachel, apologizing for not saying anything to the beautiful things he said to her. It made her realize that she loves him just as much as he does her. She tries getting off the plane, but the flight attendants wouldn't let her, where the message is cut off. A second later, all we hear is, "I got off the plane". He runs over to Rachel, grabs her and hugs so passionately. They vow to not do anything to mess this up again. Ross and Rachel are now back in the game forever. Erica has given birth to a beautiful baby boy and a baby girl.

They are all packed up. Monica leaves her key on the counter for the superintendent, which leads Chandler, Joey, Ross, Phoebe, and Rachel to leave their keys as well. They all hug each other, until Rachel, through tears, asks, "Do you guys have to move into the house right away or do you still have time?" They have time, which leads Rachel into asking, "Well, do you wanna get some coffee?" They all agree and head out to the coffee house one last time as a six-Friend group. They take the babies with them as they walk out of the empty once-owned-by-Monica apartment, with their arms around each other.

You'll cry your eyes out, but you'll laugh as well when our Friends say, "Farewell".

Guest stars include: Paul Rudd, Danny DeVito, Greg Kinnear, Aisha Tyler, Donnie Osmand, Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Coolidge, Christina Applegate, Elliott Gould, Christina Pickles, Giovanni Ribisi, Anna Farris, and Brent Spinner

GOOD NEWS &#33;&#33; "FRIENDS-FANS" .....

Seminal sitcom friends is returning to television after each of its six stars agreed on multi-million dollar deals to star in four one-hour specials.

In a secret meeting before Christmas (05), Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry reportedly agreed a &#036;5 million apiece deal with NBC bosses in Los Angeles.

Scriptwriters have already started penning lines for the four double episodes, which are due to air sometime this year.

Aniston, who has filmed a string of movies since the final Friends episode, was the last to agree to the new deal.

An nbc insider says, “She’s the one, who had been holding out. But, she’s now agreed to reprise Rachel (Green).

“Bringing them back is a dream come true. Ratings will go through the roof.”

Network bosses have also hinted at a second spin-off of the hit comedy, following the disappointing performance of Matt LeBlanc’s show Joey. The new programme will see the three male stars — Perry, Schwimmer and LeBlanc — pilot a series called It’s A Guy Thing.

An nbc spokesperson confirms, “Negotiations on future projects are going on all the time.”

......and not-so-gud news :(

Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher has hinted she may soon be leaving the hit Channel 4 show.

When asked whether the current series could be her last, Teri — who plays single mum Susan Mayer — said, “I just think everything comes to a natural close at some stage, doesn’t it?

“And the world of film does sound appealing again.

“It has always been my dream to make my own movie.”

Anyone started watching The O.C</span> ??? :)

Its quite interesting &#33;&#33;

here&#39;s some dope:

<span style="font-family:Times">From Ryan&#39;s first moments in Newport Beach, he found himself in conflict with the rich elitist society. In the beginning, his very presence in Newport Beach threatened the security of its inhabitants and their way of life simply because this troubled teenager was unable and unwilling to conform.

Despite many obstacles, Ryan eventually won the heart of Newport’s princess, Marissa Cooper. However, playing White Knight to Marissa’s Damsel in Distress eventually took its toll on Ryan and the relationship. Then, when Ryan’s ex-girlfriend Theresa showed up in Newport in an attempt to escape her life in Chino, Ryan had a hard time resisting the comfort of a familiar face from home. When Ryan discovered Theresa was pregnant, he did the “right thing” and, despite not knowing for certain whether the child was his, moved back to Chino to help raise it. But Theresa, realizing Ryan would never be happy in Chino, also did the “right thing” and told him she had lost the baby. Ryan then returned to Newport and the Cohen’s. After a quick and unsuccessful attempt at reuniting with Marissa, Ryan met a “fish-out-of-water” like himself. After a bit of a rocky start, it appeared to be smooth sailing for him and Lindsay … until they discovered she was actually Caleb’s daughter, Kirsten’s sister and in some remote way, Ryan’s aunt. Eventually, Lindsay chose to move back to Boston with her mom and Ryan mourned the loss of what might have been. Seth, on the other hand, celebrated the notion that now Ryan and Marissa could get back together and they could all return to being the fabulous foursome they once were.

Ryan slowly warmed up to Seth’s “The Way We Were” plan and eventually he and Marissa reunited. But then Ryan’s brother, Trey, tried to rape Marissa. When Ryan found out, he tracked down his brother and they fought. Unfortunately, Trey had a gun and the fight went from ugly to deadly. Before Trey could do in his brother, Marissa grabbed the gun and shot him in the back.

Desperate Housewife not that desperate&#33;

Star of the hit TV show "Desperate Housewives" Teri Hatcher has slammed claims that she was the highest earning cast member of the show.

According to ananova.com, she set the record straight. Hatcher was angry that a psychologist told tabloids she was losing weight to be the thinnest cast member in order to justify her higher salary.

She says: "They should have their licence taken away for commenting on someone&#39;s health without them being a patient. I don&#39;t even know if I earn the most. I make exactly what I made when I signed my initial contract, and I don&#39;t know what the other girls get."

She adds: "I wasn&#39;t anywhere near the top of the list to get this show. Either I deserved it or somebody thought I was the weakest person on the planet and if they didn&#39;t do something spectacular for me, I&#39;d off myself out of depression.

"I know I will not be hot again soon... I don&#39;t know if that means two years or five years, but it lets me enjoy what is happening now to the fullest. It also makes me smart about securing a future for me and for my family."

Love’s in the air for two Desparate Housewives
==============================

Desperate Housewife Teri Hatcher has a new man in her life — American Idol hunk Ryan Seacrest.

Teri (41) has shared intimate dinners with the telly host, who is 10 years her junior.

Pals hope he will help mend her broken heart after a mystery relationship ended abruptly recently.

One friend said, “Teri really enjoys his company.”

While, not so far away, Nicolette Sheridan has agreed to marry Michael Bolton.

The actress, who plays Edie Britt in Desperate Housewives, is engaged just months after splitting from fiancé Niklas Soderblom.

According to the Mirror a source said, “Nicolette was going through a difficult time after splitting with Nik and the last thing she expected was to get engaged again so soon. But then she and Michael realised how much they have in common.

“They’re absolutely crazy about each other, and when Michael got down on one knee Nicolette did not think twice. The couple have only told close friends and family so far and want to tie the knot as soon as possible.”

Sheridan showed-off a huge diamond ring on her left hand at a post-Ocar party earlier this month, sparking rumours the couple were tying the knot.

A representative for the actress has confirmed that the couple are engaged. However, no wedding date has been announced.

Sheridan was previously married to LA Law actor Harry Hamlin.

Former Friends star Lisa Kudrow has confirmed the hit TV series was all set for a reunion show, but one male cast member refused a multi-million dollar salary to make a comeback appearance.

Rumours of a lucrative Friends reunion started after Kathleen Turner, who played the transvestite father of Matthew Perry’s character Chandler Bing, revealed she had been approached about making more episodes.

While, bosses at US TV network NBC furiously denied the claims, 42-year-old Kudrow, who starred as Phoebe Buffay in the comedy, has now confirmed proposals for forthcoming shows. But she also reveals that one of either Matt Le Blanc, David Schwimmer or Perry is hampering the proceedings.

She says, “There is an opportunity for the rest of us to do a reunion show but one member has said no. It’s one of the guys. I’m gutted.”

US&#39; favourites, lapped up in India too

Some of the most watched television shows in America are, unsurprisingly, as popular in India. Here&#39;s a peek at what the top five shows in the US this week are:
At the top is American Idol, watched by a staggering 33 million viewers in the US last week. It&#39;s a spin-off of the UK show Pop Idol, a singing talent contest to find the next big voice.

Interestingly, the show was created by Simon Fuller, the man who also created the Spice Girls.

More interesting is the fact that one of its directors is Bruce Gowers, who directed rock icons Queen&#39;s original Bohemian Rhapsody video&#33;

Being the top show has its advantages. Apparently, a mere 30-second commercial on its slot costs a huge Rs 3,17,25,000&#33;

Next on the list is Desperate Housewives, watched by 21 million viewers a week ago.
Set in fictional Wisteria Lane, it follows the lives of four housewives, introducing us to the domestic struggles they undergo, while adding to a number of mysteries with every episode.

The phrase &#39;desperate housewives&#39; has now become a cultural phenomenon in America, while its stars are bigger than ever.

It has also made the company ABC a whole lot of money.

For fans, here&#39;s more proof that there are quite a few of you. There will soon be a computer game based on the series. The Desperate Housewives game is to be released in September 2006 and deals with murder, blackmail and even the stealing of husbands&#33;

Crime does pay, apparently. Why else would 19 million viewers stay up in America last week to watch CSI: Miami?
Set in Miami (obviously), the show about a team of forensic scientists has been exported to a number of countries worldwide, India being one of them.

The team investigates mysterious or unusual deaths and tries to solve them. What makes it different from most other shows about solving murders, however, is the slick packaging.

It seems as if anything related to death will always attract an audience. Another of life&#39;s mysteries.

Although it is lower on the list in America, with 16 million viewers, Lost has a great many fans in India.
The drama-adventure series focuses on survivors of a plane crash on a mysterious deserted island. Each character has an intriguing past, explored through a series of flashbacks, and the island has a history too, making a show a lot different from a Robinson Crusoe-like story.

Incidentally, the pilot episode was the most expensive in television history, costing around &#036;10 million to make.

It appears to have paid off though, going by the show&#39;s massive success since it first aired in 2004.

And here&#39;s something you probably haven&#39;t noticed -- some characters reference famous philosophers, through their names. Like John Locke and Danielle Rousseau, for instance.

CSI: NY, the second spin-off from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, was watched by 13 million viewers in the US last week, earning it a spot on the &#39;most watched&#39; list.
It was introduced during an episode of CSI: Miami, when the character Horatio Caine journeyed to New York City in pursuit of a murder suspect who fled Miami.

This show is a lot bloodier than the Miami one, possibly because New York is a harder city. The first two seasons were also filmed in a hard blue light to accentuate this. Later seasons dropped the blue filter.

Cops and robbers -- will we ever tire of them? Nope.

Eva is sexiest earthling

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria can now be seen from outer space, thanks to the editors of men’s magazine Maxim.

The US publication’s bosses have created a massive replica of their January 2005 cover, which featured a bikini shot of the actress, that is visible from space.

The vinyl mesh replica, which stretches to 23 by 34 metres, has been placed in the desert outside Las Vegas, Nevada as part of the magazine’s 100th issue celebrations.

It took nine workers more than 15 hours to ‘build’ the cover, which is so big that satellites are able to photograph the image from outer space.

The stunt was made possible by the city of Las Vegas and Google Earth, which will display the image online.
Longoria says, “Leave it to Maxim to do something so creative and so wild to celebrate their 100th
issue.

“I guess space is the final frontier. I am flattered to say the least, to be TV’s sexiest earthling.”

The Indian effect

Hollywood outsources 3-D visual effects to Indian animation companies

Joeanna Rebello

If you watched The Triangle, the 3-part mini-series on Star Movies, over the weekend, know that this sci-fi feature owes part of its computer wizardry - that whale of a ship, the Hawk-eye plane, the speed boats…not to some high-end production house in LA, but to an outfit in India.

“We created six models for them, including a whaler ship, a meteorological plane, and a couple of other objects,” says Shantanu, Head of Productions of The Sign, the visual effects company that was commissioned the work. The Sign, co-owned by two Germans, along with Shantanu, is an Indian outfit -an example of the numerous small visual effects companies in India that have become increasingly active in Hollywood. “We sent Oscar-winning FX whiz Volker Engel (of Independence Day fame) a copy of our work, and he liked it enough to land us the job for The Triangle. We were given two months to complete it,” he adds.

Two-D animation is being superseded by 3-D visual effects that span a sea of extraordinary functions-from creating computer-generated simulations of real people, to merging real-life action with computer-constructed imagery. All for films that want to bridge the gulf between the real and the imagined…convincingly. There is specialised software that enables them to this end, and it turns out that at least four to five production houses in India use the software competently enough to clinch Hollywood&#39;s feature deals.

“India is cost-effective…for international quality,” says Mohan Krishnan, head of corporate communications at Prasad EFX, a company that has several international projects to its credit, including the recent Petrer Hyams A Sound Of Thunder. “There are big companies with around 150 to 200 employees that provide a wide gamut of visual effects, as compared with smaller houses with maybe seven to ten technicians, and these usually specialise in certain areas of the craft, like creating models, animating those models, texturing, creating matte paintings, etc.”

Now, even though the Indian market has netted its Western catch, it still has to command the clout to influence creative processes. “Right now, all creative input comes from abroad,” Krishnan says. “Pre-planning never happens here. Hollywood decides it wants to use a lion in a particular scene, and they tell us what the lion should look like, the way it should move, the background it is set against, and all that. Ours is the labour-intensive end. However, it is still a challenge to understand what they want, and deliver the goods correspondingly.”

And the top guns out West must be happy with the work done back home, or they wouldn&#39;t come back for more. The Sign is currently working on an Italian production called Dear Anne, a CGI-photo real film on the life of Anne Frank. “There are absolutely no actors. Everything, from the cast to the setting, has been simulated from pictures of Anne and Amsterdam at the time of WWII. It&#39;s a step up from the kind of film Robert Zemeckis&#39;s The Polar Express is,” says Shantanu.

A survey conducted by Nascom on the Indian animation industry, is perhaps telling of its swelling size. According to the ‘Developer&#39;s Perspective’, the 2005 contribution from the domestic market is &#036;13 million, while the overseas market brought in &#036;2 million.

The projections for 2007 predict domestic returns to the tune of &#036;31 million, and foreign returns, at &#036;7 million. There is only one way those numbers go in the coming years - up.
