The Tamil star gets frank about fans, fatherhood and filmi follies.
What animal would you like to be reborn as?
An elephant, then I wouldn’t have to worry about my diet.
What has been your most romantic moment?
It was my first date with my wife. We spent the whole night in a mango orchard, under the stars, with lit candles placed in mango baskets.
As an electronics student, if someone had suggested you become an actor, what would you have said?
I would have hit him over the head!
What frightens you most about becoming a father?
(Laughs), That my son will keep as many secrets from me, as I kept from my father.
If you’d fasted for a day, what dish would you first want to gobble?
Paani puri.
What has been your biggest on-screen blooper?
In one scene, I was supposed to wear a dhoti. The cameraman told me the frame would end at my waist. So, below my dhoti, I wore a pair of trousers. When I saw the shot, I realised that a long shot had been taken and my pants were clearly visible.
How would you describe yourself in a word?
A vagabond.
How did you feel during the premiere of your first film?
Pregnant.
What is the craziest thing a fan of yours has done?
Written my name all over her body.
After a long stretch of strenuous shooting, if you had a week off, what would you do to have a blast?
I’d play golf.
The most embarrassing moment of your life?
The time I walked into a ladies’ loo.
The one thing that could make you resort to violence?
Cruelty to animals.
