The Doom movie, follows “The Rock” John Grimm (Karl Urban), a Marine nicknamed “Reaper,” who travels with his squad to a Martian research facility where all hell is breaking loose.

The movie will now take place on Mars and there will be at least one scene filmed in first-person shooter mode and most of the creatures in the movie were created by Stan Winston Studios (made the creatures in all of the Terminator movies, Aliens and Predator).

The company launched a Web site to publicize it. The website features story details, the trailer, stills, a free screensaver and desktop wallpaper.

The teaser shows a number of scenes that seem to clearly and intentionally evoke the Doom gaming experience. And the film’s tone appears to be true to the original game and its two follow-ups.

The actor talks about the movie and his character.

“I just saw the film for the first time and it is awesome. It’s like a rollercoaster. Once it grabs you it just grabs you by the nuts and doesn’t let go.”

“John Grimm is a character who’s really running away from his past. He’s a child prodigy of scientists and turned his back on all of that and chooses to go around killing things and blowing things up as an act of rebellion. And through the course of the film, he confronts his inner demons in order to triumph against all odds. At the end of the day, the story is about the birth of a superhero, if you will.”

Doom movie follows an elite military unit called the Rapid Response Tactical Squad. Led by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the role of Sarge, the team responds to a distress signal sent from a remote science facility on the planet Mars called Olduvai Station owned and operated by the Union Aerospace Corporation.

The researchers experiment with teleportation. Something goes terribly wrong and they open a portal to an unknown place. They have just discovered the final 10% of the human genome….but with unexpected side effects. Specifically, residents are turning up dead or missing, frayed and bloody lab coats are found, and severed limbs are discovered.

The team quickly discovers that the facility has been overrun by nightmarish, bloodthirsty monsters. It seems that the project has somehow unleashed monstrous, infernal beings. It’s up to the team to seal off the portal to Earth and up to John to destroy them and save the day.

But the monsters aren’t from hell, they are people mutated by some kind of virus. When dealing with the alien demons, Grimm is forced to cross paths with the organization responsible for his parents’ deaths.
