The 37th international Film Festival of india or iFFi as it is popularly known, began in Goa on Thursday.
Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor inaugurated the festival.
And present at the occasion were some of his juniors in the industry - Anil Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Venkatesh and Prosenjit.
A musical evening, there were performances by actors Salman Khan, Bipasha Basu and Priyanaka Chopra.
The festival opens with Pedro Almodovar’s Volver, winner of the best screenplay and best actress award at Cannes.
More than 200 films from india and abroad will be screened at the 10 day festival and there will also be special tributes for some Bollywood legends like Prithviraj Kapooor, Naushad, Nadira and SD Burman.
