Here are ten married couples, all from the tele-world, none of whom, are professional dancers. But then, they will compete in a dance-off every week and the winners will be crowned the Nach Baliye Champions!

Nach Baliye is a show that brings two unique things to Indian television:
1. The competition between real- life couples
2. The participants competing on a skill, they are not known for.

Hosted by Shabir Ahluwalia and Sangita Ghosh, the show will air for ten weeks, Tuesday to Thursday, 9 PM on STAR One.

The Judges

Saroj Khan Saroj Khan (real name: Nirmala) took Film Choreography to new heights and gave the art, the respectability that was never granted earlier. She remains to be the queen in her lot even today!

It was not all rosy for her although. She was three when she was taken to the studios to earn livelihood for her family, (one of the many victims of the 1947 Partition). From then to now it has been a rough climb, but a successful one too!

Farhan Akhtar The son of the famous lyricist, Javed Akthar and scriptwriter-turned-filmmaker Honey Irani, first-time director Farhan Akhtar hopped onto the Hindi film industry bus in outsize shoes with release of Dil Chahta Hai.

The 30-year-old director is young, restless and believes in doing things his way! He met his wife Aduna on the dance floor and it is said that he fell in love with her dancing skills first!

Malaika Arora Khan She loves being in front of the camera. It's a two-way love affair, as a camera loves her too. Tinted hair, glossy lips, tempting pout, and dangerous curves, sitting cross-legged, she sends the mercury levels soaring!

Here is the sensuous Malaika in an all new role, as one of the celebrity judges on STAR One!

So, it is all about watching your favourite celebrities letting their hair down, being 'normal' and sporting enough, to compete in an area that will provide the basis for an endearing and watchable hit show!

Poonam and Manish:

Poonam and Manish met on the sets of Kasautii Zindagi Kay where they played husband and wife. Married for 3 years, they have a son, Aryaveer who is a year old!

Poonam loves dancing and wanted to dance in a troupe but then, acting took preference. However, she was eager to work with Manish again on Nach Baliye and so now, they have been given that chance.

Choreographer: Danny/Savio/Kunjan

The three have received rave reviews for their work on their debut video, Band of Boys, their subsequent videos and stage shows. They have also choreographed for Ponds Femina Miss India. They are successfully making their Bollywood debut with the film Kathputli starring Milind Soman and Yukta Mookhey.

Manini and Mihir

They first met at an event for Tata Cancer Research Foundation and were married within 11 days of this meeting. They now have a beautiful daughter called Dianoor, aged 6.

Manini has worked in shows such as Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, The Great Indian Comedy Show and Piya Ka Ghar while Mihir has acted in Sanjeevani and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. Both Mihir and Manini, are very nervous about this new experience but if Manini's spontaneity and Mihir's persistence are anything to go by, this couple will wow the audiences with their performances together!

Choreographer: Darren Das

Darren started his career at the age of 13 as assistant to Shiamak Davar. In 1991, he set up his own Dance School and Fitness Centre. His work includes MTV AIDS Summit and films like Chori Chori and Page 3.

Neeru and Amit:

Well, they met on the sets of Guns and Roses in Goa last year and fell in love. They are the only un-married couple on the show. They recently got engaged and plan to marry later this year! Amit has done a wide array of work on the small screen and Neeru has appeared in several music videos, serials and worked in a Punjabi film where she also choreographed the songs.

This is Amit's first ever dancing experience as he has always postponed learning it. Neeru however is an excellent dancer and has been dancing since the age of 7. Amit is learning and Neeru helps him learn with great patience. Now it is time to test her patience!

Choreographer: Alias

An upcoming choreographer, who is making waves for his fresh style of choreography. He started as an assistant to Farah Khan in Dil Se. He was also an assistant to Remo for 5 years and has further polished his skills. He has worked on film projects like Waqt, Shabd and Lucky.

Archana and Parmeet:

They need no introduction. The sensuous film actress and strong-minded businessman met at a common friend's party 17 years ago. They took to each other immediately and have been going strong ever since. They have two sons, Aryamaan (9) and Ayushmann (6).

Dancing together for the first time, they are discovering a new dimension to the chemistry between them.

Choreographer: Jasmin Oza

Jasmin has an experience of 13 years in dancing and choreography. At present, he is choreographing for Shankar Mahadevan, Sukhdev, Shaan and Sukhwinder Singh. He recently directed for albums like Tum Hi Hamari by DJ Suketu and Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao by Asha Bhosle and Adnan Sami.

Shilpa and Apoorva:

The two met through their common friend, Rakshanda Khan and started dating in Dec 2003. They got married on June 28, 2004 and are total romantics, completely dependent on each other.

Apoorva has most recently been working in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin and Shilpa has acted in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kkusum. Apoorva is a non-dancer, who is scared as well as excited about this dancing challenge but they both feel that this will be a fantastic experience together.

Choreographer: Jeet

Jeet started choreographing in 1991 and honed his skills by working with Remo on film projects like Saathiya, Chameli, Dhoom, Shabd and the forthcoming Koi Apsa and Fight Club. His latest choreographed remix of Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyaar Ke Charche is making waves on television.

Manasi and Rohit:

Rohit met Manasi 15 years ago when she was modeling and Rohit was assisting director Kunal Kapoor. Manasi started with modeling and then moved into theatre. Rohit has worked in several films and has done a variety of work on the small screen.

Both are Arians and extremely hotheaded, but have learnt to complement each other. They have a daughter Kiara, aged 3. Manasi with her "two left feet" and Rohit who "loves to dance but hates being choreographed" will try and set the stage alight with their performances...

Choreographers: Kash and Shla

The two have been working together for 6 years and have done a lot of awards shows such as the Sansui and Fiat Awards. Their next Bollywood foray will be Tere Pyar Mein with Raguvendra Rao, starring Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan.

Rajeshwari and Varun:

Having been in the same profession, Rajeshwari and Varun have known each other for quite some time. But then, they only got to know each other properly working in a film together in 2004!

Rajeshwari is a trained dancer and likes to dance. Varun, however has 2 left feet but he enjoys what he does. So when he is dancing, he looks nice because he is having fun!

Choreographer: Rajeev Surti

Rajeev has assisted Vaibhavi Merchant in Lagaan and Na Tum Jaano Na Hum and has also choreographed the Adnan Sami World Tour with Amiisha Patel, Shefali Jariwala, Sunidhi Chauhan, Raghav and Manasi Scott.

Delnaaz and Rajiv:

The two met in 1993 but then, Delnaaz likes to call themselves "the youngest looking, oldest married couple" among their peers, meaning everybody who looks at them thinks that they have just got married!

Rajiv started his career in 1993 with Swabhimaan while Delnaaz has done a lot of theatre plays in English and Gujarati. She is currently doing a Hindi play called Paying Guest. Everything between them seems perfect, except for the fact that only she is crazy about dancing. But, through Nach Baliye, Delnaaz can go back to her passion and not be alone!

Choreographer: Sailesh

Sailesh has been a choreographer for the past 15 years and has learnt different styles of dancing, assisting dance directors like Indumati Lele, Jayendra Kalyani and Farah Khan. His troupe was applauded for representing India at The World Folk Festival in Europe. His latest work has been with his guru Farah Khan for the film Paheli

Supriya and Sachin:

Sachin started his career at the age of 4 as a child actor, and has so far acted in over 200 films. He has also directed 16 films and TV serials in both Hindi and Marathi. Supriya started her career in 1984 and has won several awards for her outstanding performances in films.

Sachin and Supriya met on the sets of their first film together where Sachin was the director. By the end of the film, Sachin had proposed marriage and have now been happily married for 20 years. They have a 16 year old daughter called Shreya. Now we will get to see them share the limelight together on-screen...

Choreographers: Al and Mel

Al and Mel have been in the business for over 8 years assisting Bosco and Caeser, Longi Fernandes and Astaad Deboo on various projects; some of the bigger projects include Bunty aur Babli, Musafir and Mission Kashmir. They have also done a number of commercials including Cadbury's, Samsung and Nestle.

Sai and Shakti:

Sai and Shakti met at the Star Parivaar awards last year where they performed on stage together and discovered their chemistry. Their romance started then and now, they have been married for 7 months.

Both have worked in several television serials but in their respective on-screen avatars. Now comes the time to see them co-ordinate and rehearse dance moves as their actual selves. Sai has a great passion for dance and has been learning Kathak for the past 5 years. Let's see if she can bring Shakti up to speed, to dazzle the dance floor!
