“Your movies are too long,” Yohan, a nine-year-old special needs pupil, told Bollywood actor Salman Khan when he visited the Dubai Centre for Special Needs yesterday.
“i agree with you. Even i thought as much,” replied Khan, before Yohan went on to give his opinion on movies in which Khan had played a leading role.
Yohan also gave Khan a brief summary of the centre’s activities during a one-to-one interaction.
“i told him that we also have very smart children and good children. i was not afraid to talk to him. He is a big actor. Some of the songs in his movies i do not like but the rest of the numbers are fine,” Yohan said.
shot to fame in the 1989 movie Maine Pyar Kiya (i have loved). He went on to star in some of the biggest hits of the ’90s like Hum Aapke Hain Koun (Who am i to you?), Karan Arjun and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (i gave my heart). The actor who is no stranger to the UAE public, was on his first visit to the centre. He said he was bowled over by the enthusiasm of the pupils who sang him a song of welcome.
Khan, who chatted with the pupils, later said: “i have always associated myself with charity work in india. Next time when i come here to the UAE i will organise an exclusive premiere of one of my movies for the pupils of this centre. i will also visit other special needs schools while i am here.”
A hug
in recent years, he made headlines for his real life dramas that involved being thrown in jail for illegally hunting a black buck, an endangered species, and his brief but rocky relationship with Bollywood actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai.
Saif, a pupil who was thrilled by Khan’s visit, said: “i have seen him on television at home and now he is in my school. i got a hug from him.”
Sulaiman, 9, a pupil, said: “i like him. i saw him on television, but i don’t know his name.”
