Rep Power: 4 | | | Saif's thrice jinxed with lady directors
By: Subhash K Jha

Sai Paranjpye
It seems Saif Ali Khan’s stars don’t tally with women directors’. Initially, Aparna Sen’s first Hindi film, Gulel, sank after Saif kept her on hold for months, before finally refusing.
Then, Zoya Akhtar had to scrap Luck by Chance, when Saif couldn’t make up his mind. Now, a third female director, Sai Paranjpye, might be disappointed— the actor says he has no knowledge of Paranjpye’s project.
Don’t know her
Saif Ali Khan
Shooting the last lap of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Eklavya, in Jaipur, Saif says, “I’ve never met Sai Paranjpye. I’ve no idea where this comes from! I don’t know the lady at all. I wish her all the best, but I am not doing her film, because I don’t know her.”
Saif says the only film he has said yes to is Salaam Namaste director Siddharth Raj Anand’s next.
“I’m so pleased with the way Salaam Namaste shaped up. It feels good. I’ve heard Siddharth’s next script; it’s a metro-centric film to be shot entirely abroad, and yes, I’m doing it. Beyond that, I’m not looking at any other film right now, not Sai Paranjpye’s for sure.”
Saif is exhausted but triumphant after the Jaipur experience. “We shot like maniacs. But the end-result is astonishing. Hats off to Mr Bachchan; he would be ready with make-up and glycerine at five in the morning, while I’d still be rubbing my eyes.”
Sai wanted Saif to play role of Habib’s son
There were reports that filmmaker Sai Paranjpye was planning an English film with Saif Ali Khan, inspired by a play in Marathi, Xapai, which means grandfather in Portuguese.
This is the story of an old patriarch who lives alone, deserted by his large family and looked after by his chauffeur and retainer, Maria.
On his 90th birthday, Xapai’s family children and grandchildren descend on him; intrigue and an unexpected twist follow.
Sai was quoted as saying theatre veteran Habib Tanveer would be just right to play Xapai, and Saif, the other key male character — his black sheep son, thrown out of the family home only to return a millionaire

They have parted ways but it’s their children who brought them back together, at least for an evening.
Yesterday, parents Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh were seen at Mumbai’s Dhirubhai Ambani International School — where kids Sara and Ibrahim study — for the annual day function.
They looked anything but aloof and hostile. So are they just on speaking terms or more than that?

Rep Power: 4 | | | He’s undoubtedly Bollywood’s cool dude. And ever since he bagged the National Award for ‘Hum Tum’ everyone’s willing to bet their monies of this suave Khan. Of course, he’s a tad bit cautious about the films he’s picking – they are far and few, but prominent and promising. His royal nawabi looks and charisma makes hearts go aflutter.

Rep Power: 4 | | | Saif to marry Italian girlfriend?
02nd Feb 2006
The latest buzz in tinsel town is that actor Saif Ali Khan is thinking of marrying his Italian girlfriend Rosa.
Just a few weeks back, we heard him rocking to the song ‘Whole Lotta Rosie’, Saif’s own dedication of the original ‘Whole Lotta Love’ for his Italian ladylove Rosa.
Now, Saif has reportedly told the Indian film magazine Stardust in its February issue that marriage with Rosa is on his mind.
When asked about settling down with Rosa, Saif is quoted by the magazine as saying: “That is the direction I'm thinking about. But we have not set a date yet.”
Saif has been seeing Rosa ever since he separated from wife Amrita Singh in 2004 after a marriage of about 14 years. Saif and Amrita have two kids both of who are learnt to have become fond of Rosa.
In his interview with Stardust, Saif also spoke about similarities between Indian and Italian women.
“Women from southern Italy and India are closer than you would imagine in terms of family,” Saif was quoted as saying.
Speaking of ex-wife Amrita Singh, Saif reportedly told the magazine: “She is one of the most important people I know and I hope to have a long-standing fruitful relationship with her.”
Saif is presently busy with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Hindi adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’ in which he plays a rural guy who speaks with UP accent.
