Vidya Balan plays the role of a news reporter Tehzeeb while Priyanka plays the role of Kkamini, an item girl in Salaam-E-ishq. For Vidya signing SEL was an impulsive decision which she did after hearing the script. Vidya is immensely excited about her tack in the film and loves the script of the film which is basically a different love story.


Vidya says “Salaam-E-ishq is truly an ode to love; it depicts the story of six different couples and six different kinds of relationships. Despite whatever problems one man goes through, true love always sticks it through. it strengthens your faith in love and relationships”


Vidya has been paired opposite John in her track and their track too is about an unusual love story. in their love story too, a life changing situation takes place but love triumphs in the end to keep them together. Vidya further elaborates on her track and role in the film; she says “Tehzeeb is a news reporter who loves her husband Ashu (John) very much.


She is as passionate about her job, but equally passionate about Ashu as well. it is about this middle class couple and the way they have to save money and the compromises they have to make to get their life going.” Vidya feels Nikhil is a good director and gives his actors the right amount of direction and space. She says “Nikhil is very chilled out and it was great working with him.” Vidya also feels that she and John share great chemistry onscreen, she says “John was great fun and was constantly giving one liners to everyone on the set, he has this unassuming quality which is great in an actor.”


Vidya feels it is love that makes the world go round, she says “i think love is something that sustains all of us.” And hence everyone should go and watch this love story.


Priyanka Chopra felt that Nikhil was a very funny person when he came to narrate the story of his film to her; Priyanka says “i knew just by the way he was passionate about his work that he would make a very good film.” Priyanka also liked her role and track in the film. Priyanka says “i am playing the character of an item girl. it is the life and problems that this item girl faces with her career and i found that very fascinating.” Priyanka says “Nikhil is one of my best directors, he is immensely talented and working with him was an incredible experience.” Priyanka feels that her track is very interesting, funny, it has got emotions, it makes you cry and it makes you laugh.


Priyanka will be seen opposite Salman in this film once again and she feels they make a great combination. Priyanka will be seen as a romantic heroine in the film and the film is entirely about romance. Finally Priyanka feels that “ishq is the most important thing in life. i think love is a feeling which overcomes and conquers and that is what this film pays tribute to, it is a Salaam to ishq, which is the most incredible feeling.”
