Rakhi Sawant is one determined woman. Despite not receiving an invitation to perform at a charity show being held at Birla Matoshri Mandir, Sawant went ahead and approached Oshiwara police for permission, only to be refused. The organisers Muslim Council Trust had already roped in Nandani aka Krazy Kat to perform an item number.


“We didn’t want Rakhi Sawant performing in our show, so we approached Krazy Kat to perform an item number. But Sawant tried to enter the show by asking Oshiwara police and was denied permission based on her previous record,” said Zeba Sheikh, a member of the organising team.


The show, which was held on August 26, had performances by singer Abhijeet, Babul Supriyo, comedian Johnny Lever and singer duo Sajid Wajid. The chief guest for the evening was Mumbai police commissioner A N Roy. The show was organised to help an old age home.


However, Oshiwara police said they were not involved in approving performers for the show. “The charity show didn’t take place in my area so I don’t know who performed. I had helped the organisers approach various people but I am not concerned with who performed at the show,” said senior police officer D N Jadhav of Oshiwara police station.


Krazy Kat, who performed at the show, said Sawant always acted like a spoil sport. “She tried everything possible to make sure she performed at the show. She approached the cops and tried persuading them. But after the Kolapur incident the cops refused to support her and as the chief guest was the Mumbai police commissioner there was no chance that she could have got permission,” she said.
