She plays the part of the demure star-wife with aplomb. But probe a little deeper and you’ll find that Malaika Khan, the better half of actor Zayed Khan, has a mind of her own. To start with, she calls herself Zayed’s biggest critic.


“i think Zayed needs to improve his dialogue delivery. But, at the same time, he is the hottest Bollywood star. That is, after Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman, of course,”she says with a smile. All hubby dearest can do is look on and smile bravely.


And what does she have to say about Zayed’s biggest success till date, Main Hoon Na? “i don’t think Main Hoon Na was the turning point in his career. Farah Khan is one filmmaker who can get the best out of anybody. in fact, i would say that Vaada was the movie in which Zayed sparkled,”she says authoritatively.


if Malaika is not enamoured by the star quotient of her husband, is it personal chemistry that works for her?


“i share a better chemistry with his sisters, than i do with him… sometimes. The fact is, his sisters and i are great friends. They are my sisters now and his mom is my second mom. The most amazing part of getting married to Zayed is that his family is simply great,”she says.


A trained jewellery designer, she has put her career on hold, for now at least. “Right now i am planning to start a family, so i haven’t given my career a thought. And frankly, i don’t need a career, i am happy the way i am. i love supporting my husband; i love travelling with him… that is work enough.”


And this ‘work’ comes with its own quota of ‘perks’. “Look at it this way, my last romantic date with Zayed was this morning in air, while we were coming to Delhi!”
